Setting Up Preferences
Choose a cooking persona and answer guided questions to build your food profile.
Your food profile is what Eatgent uses to match recipes to you. Setting it up is a guided conversation that covers your cooking style, dietary needs, and goals. The whole process takes just a few minutes.
Choose a cooking persona
The first step is picking the persona that best describes how you approach cooking. Eatgent uses your choice to tailor the questions it asks next.

- Health-Conscious Professional — Focused on nutrition and eating well around a full schedule.
- Foodie & Hobbyist — Enjoy exploring new cuisines and spending time in the kitchen.
- Fitness Enthusiast — Eating to support training goals and active recovery.
- Retiree/Empty Nester — Cooking for one or two with a focus on variety and enjoyment.
- Student/Budget Cook — Keeping meals affordable without sacrificing flavor.
Answer questions about your preferences
After you select a persona, Eatgent walks you through a conversational Q&A flow. The questions are tailored based on your persona and cover areas like:
- Diet type — Omnivore, vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, and more.
- Restrictions and allergies — Any foods or ingredients you need to avoid.
- Cuisine preferences — Cuisines you enjoy and any you'd rather skip.
- Cooking time — How much time you typically want to spend cooking.
- Spice tolerance — From mild to extra spicy.
- Health goals — Weight management, heart health, energy, or other goals.
- Household size — How many people you're cooking for.
- Special notes — Anything else Eatgent should know, like ingredient preferences or kitchen limitations.
Review and confirm
Once you've answered all the questions, Eatgent shows a summary of your preferences. Take a moment to review it and make sure everything looks right. If something needs adjusting, you can go back and edit your answers before confirming.
When you're happy with the summary, confirm your profile. Eatgent saves your preferences and immediately starts generating your first weekly meal plan.
